Rationalizing that by combining the demographic examined in American Pie with the There's Something About Mary hijinks they could have a positively boffo box office take, writers Todd Phillips and Scot Armstrong crafted Road Trip, the latest and poorest of the recent gross-out comedies to date. Starring the almost-too-old-for-this-part Breckin Meyer, Road Trip is the story of Josh Parker, a college freshman, who videotapes himself having sex with an amazingly hot blonde--which is good--and then accidentally mails the tape to his high school sweetheart who is attending school in Texas--which is bad. The title describes the action that ensues when Josh and his friends realize his gaffe. Grabbing drunken college cliches from every possible source, the grand majority of Road Trip is anything but original. Save for one truly humorous scene involving a practical joke played by the members of a black fraternity, all the best and funniest parts of this movie can be seen in any number of its trailers.
