As a whole, big animal disaster movies aren't exactly a hot bed of acting talent. However, Python takes this notion to a new and previous unseen level of parity. The leads, actors Frayne Rosanoff and Chris Owens are bad, but it's an uncredited five minute cameo by Playmate turned actress (and I use the term loosely) Jenny McCarthy that delivers the worst blow. Python's story is par for the course for a big animal disaster movie: When the military transport plane carrying a huge (150 foot long) genetically engineered python crashes into the northern Californian countryside, the snake escapes and begins to terrorize showering women and teenagers. Then it's up to the local sheriff (William Zabka) and the owners of a local acid factory to kill the snake. This was abysmal--so far below the rest of the entries in the genre it was scary. Not even a unintentionally over-the-top performance by Casper Van Dien (the king big animal disaster movies) could liven things up here.
