Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn colloborated with wonderous results in director Frank Oz's catchy 1992 film, Housesitter. Reuniting here as married couple Henry and Nancy Clark, Martin and Hawn produce some laughs and memorable scenes, but don't quite capture the magic or chemistry they had in Housesitter. When Henry is fired from his advertising agency in Ohio, he A) fails to mention it to Nancy and B) sets up an interview with a new agency in New York City. The drama is thusly set: Henry and Nancy have to make it from Ohio to New York in two days timeÖ or the space-time continuum will be greatly effected. Despite some comic scenes, particularly Martin's efforts to explain why he doesn't have a picture of his lost suitcase with him, the majority of comedy in The Out-of-Towners falls flat on its face.
