Starring Andy Garcia, Andie MacDowell, et al. Released to DVD on June 15, 1999.
Andy Garcia stars as a loveable ticket scalper, Gary who is in love with a chef and complete bitch, Linda (Andie MacDowell). As the scalping business begins to changeóenter cell-phones and beepersóGary refuses to join the ë90's, causing him to lose some money, some blood, some friends, some business contacts, and finally, his girl. Quickly, Gary thinks up some interesting ways to win her back. Just the Ticket was plodding, tedious, and boring to an extreme as a whole, but the one thing that particularly bothered me was the decision to cast MacDowell as the female lead. MacDowell just has never quite created a positive screen persona with whom audiences can identify. Playing her character as a rather haughty, uppity woman, MacDowell does nothing to shed that image here. After a certain point in time, I felt like kicking Gary and telling him that he was better off without Linda, but it was to no avail. Vaguely reminiscent of the Al Pacino/Michelle Pfeiffer disaster Frankie & Johnnie, Just the Ticket was a horrid romantic comedy.
