Starring Brendan Fraser, Sarah Jessica Parker, et al. Released to DVD on December 28, 1999.
Like Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, a movie where the people involved consistently do the wrong thing, the people associated with Dudley Do-Right did completely wrong and did so with an alarming frequency. Following up on his success on The First Wives Club, director Hugh Wilson tackled this live action version of the '60's cartoon classic of the same name. For those of you who have seen more than on episode of the cartoon show, you know the basic plot structure of this film. When Snidely Whiplash (Alfred Molina) plans something crafty to try and ransom a large amount of money from the government, it's up to Canadian mountie Dudley Do-Right (Brendan Fraser) to save the world and his rather fickle girlfriend, Nell Fenwick (Sarah Jessica Parker). I think the success of the cartoon show came with the fact that each story lasted only seven or eight minutes, a far cry from this movies 83 minute running time. This was for S/M lovers only.
