Eyes Wide Shut was last summer's ëit' movie. Raving about and praising this film was the rage; by calling Eyes Wide Shut a masterpiece, people were able to both honor the film's late director, Stanley Kubrick, while also making a definitive statement about art and censorship. But this still can't camouflage the fact that this film sucked. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman star as Dr. William and Alice Hartford, a married couple who manage to hit a rocky patch in their relationship when Alice announces that she once thought about having sex with a stranger while she was married to William. William responds to this information by running around New York City trying to have sex with a stranger himself. He then attends an orgy that is included in the film simply for the sake of having lots of naked women in the movie. Long and unbelievably slow paced, it's hard to believe that there is a common theme or string tying the events of this film together.
