Contrary to popular belief, not all men are commitment shy beings who would contemplate stabbing themselves with a fork before joining the institution of marriage, but this isn't a tidbit of knowledge that you'd learn from this film. Reducing men down to this basic stereotypeóand women down to creatures who lie and cheat to get an engagement ringóis both annoying and a rather poor exercise in screenwriting. For further examples of poor screenwriting, you can watch The Bachelor. A remake of the Buster Keaton classic, Seven Chances, Chris O'Donnell stars as Jimmy, the commitment shy bachelor discussed in the title, a man who will stand to inherit $100 million dollars... if he can get married before his 30th birthday, an event that occurs tomorrow at 6:00 PM. If greed doesn't strike your fancy as a reason to get married, as it hardly did mine, then The Bachelor's pathetic attempts at humor will fall far short.
